Day 18 of 31

A New Creation

Born anew in Christ

Today's Scripture

“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.”
Galatians 6:15 KJV

Opening thought

After our wedding, we came home, sat down together as a newly married couple, and prayed. We asked God to help us build a model marriage that believers would emulate, and one that the children He would give us would be proud of.

The devotional message

When my wife conceived, we were very happy. We were not concerned about whether the baby would be a boy or a girl. What made us happy was that a new creature was going to spring forth from us, a child we would train and nurture in the fear and admonition of God. This Scripture reminds me of the conception of our baby, Natania.

Old Things Are Passed Away

When a sinner comes to Christ through repentance, he becomes a new creation. The Scripture says, "...old things are passed away" (2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV). The person's status changes. He or she is no longer seen as a sinner. Their sins are forgiven, and they are born anew. It does not matter how far they were lost in sin; they are a new creation.

One Family in God

There is no race in Christ: no tribe, no tongue, no ethnicity, no African, no Caucasian. We are one big family in God. God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). What matters is not the religious label a person carries, whether Muslim, Jew, or Christian, but whether he or she is a new creation, created after the image of God.

Today, are you saved? Are you born again? What is your identity?

Today's quote

Closing prayer

Father, thank You for making me a new creation in Christ Jesus. Thank You that my sins are forgiven and that I am no longer seen as a sinner. Help me to live out my new identity and to embrace every brother and sister in Your family, whatever their race, tribe, or tongue. Let my life show that I am born anew. In Jesus' name, amen.
