Day 19 of 111

God Knows Your Needs

Your Father provides before you ask

Today's Scripture

“...for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.”
Matthew 6:8 KJV

Opening thought

Every responsible father knows the needs of his children. He does not wait for them to ask before he makes provision for their needs.

The devotional message

For instance, before we welcomed our first baby, Natania, there were things we bought: baby clothes, a bed and bedding, feeding supplies, and all the food she would need. I did not wait for my wife to give birth before making these things available. From the moment God blessed us and she conceived until the day our daughter was born, they were ready.

Your Heavenly Father Provides

This is how God also takes care of us. He is our heavenly Father. He knows we need food, our daily bread, and all the basic things life requires, and He has made them available. He created the entire universe, with all its riches and hidden treasures, before He created man, and He gave man dominion over it. All the things you need to survive, succeed, and stay ahead in life have already been made available to you by God.

Stop Worrying

Many of the things we ask for in prayer are not necessary; they are only empty repetitions (Matthew 6:7). His divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). God knows your needs. Stop worrying; God will supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19).

Closing prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that You know what I need before I ask. Thank You for my daily bread and for every provision You prepared long before I arrived. Forgive me for worrying and for praying empty words. Teach me to trust You simply and to rest in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.
