“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
Matthew 7:11 KJV
Opening thought
When my wife gave birth to our first child, I realized how deeply the relationship binds parents and children. The bond was so strong that I could not eat unless I knew our children had eaten. The thought of meeting their daily needs kept me working and waking up each day. Every day I longed to be with them, to buy them good gifts, and to enjoy playing with them.
The devotional message
Our Father's Good Gifts
This experience reminds me of our relationship with God. We are created in the image and likeness of God. Our Father made the entire universe, the beautiful solar system, the waters, and everything that lives under heaven. He saw how beautiful they were and said, "It is good." Then He gave it all to man. Whatever God makes and gives is good and perfect. You cannot add to it or take anything from it (Ecclesiastes 3:14).
The Scripture says, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17, KJV).
God gives good gifts. He gave us the beautiful universe; He gave us His Son, Jesus Christ; and He has given us His Holy Spirit. We are complete in Him, and in Him we are made perfect. He is a good God, and He gives good gifts.

Closing prayer
Father of lights, thank You for every good and perfect gift: for the beauty of creation, for Your Son, Jesus Christ, and for Your Holy Spirit. You never change, and Your goodness never fails. Forgive me for doubting Your heart. Help me to ask with confidence and to receive with gratitude. In Jesus' name, amen.
