“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 7:21 KJV
Opening thought
Have you noticed that not everyone who comes around you is your friend? Not everyone who smiles at you has good thoughts toward you. Many come to you because of what they have heard about you. Some come because of what they want to get from you. Everyone has a reason for coming to you, but time reveals the reasons and intentions of every heart.
The devotional message
Knowing God Is Practical
This Scripture is very important to me as a believer, and to everyone who wants to do the will of God. We must understand that calling on the name of God, or bearing a name that sounds godly, does not mean we are children of God. Knowing God is personal, intentional, and practical. It shows in how we live every day: how we relate to others, how we speak to people, and how we interact with members of other communities.
Jesus said that our love for one another shows that we are His disciples (John 13:35), and that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments (John 14:15).
Check Yourself
Check yourself today. Do you do the will of God? Do you love one another? Or do you know only the names of God without living His life daily?

Closing prayer
Father, I do not want to know only Your names. I want to know You and do Your will. Forgive me where my life has not matched my words. Fill me with love for others, including those outside my own community, and help me to keep Jesus' commandments every day. In Jesus' name, amen.
